Since the departure of Figo in 2005 from Madrid, the jersey number 10 seems to have fallen into the hands of a strange curse which prevents success to anyone who wears it. Figo was the last one to shine with number 10 on his back. After his farewell nobody has managed to triumph in Santiago Bernabeu with that number. Neither Robinho, Sneijder, or Lass managed to break the curse. This number is damn in Madrid for seven years. Özil after dazzling performance in his first year seemed to have given hope of putting an end to this curse. But now it seems like Özil has fallen under the effect of the curse of “the 10”. Özil is following the same path as Sneijder. The Dutch, after getting the number 23 with the whites in his first season, he was rewarded with number 10 on his 2nd year. Before Sneijder, 10 was too heavy for Robinho as well. Lass also failed to brighten with this number. Ronaldo chose number 7, Kaka #8 and Benzema #11. In other words no one wanted the cursed number 10. The fact is that the curse continues.
